    • John Lewis Hurd lived in Hemet, CA for 25 years. He was a repairman for Packard Bell-Teledyne for 29 years. 

      During WWII, he served as a B-17 ball turret gunner in the 8th Air Force, 401st bomb group.  He was a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft 17-B in Austria. 

      He was featured in a documentary on the HIstory Channel for having "one of the worlds most dangerous jobs" during the war and for his accomplishments.

      Later, Mr. Hurd did volunteer work at Chino Airport for the Planes of Fame Air Museum. (About 37 mi west of L.A.)
